The wavelike patterns in the wood are impressive. They change their shimmers with the light.
A carved circle in the middle of the plate immediately drag people's imagination to a night with moon and cloud.
It has astonishing visual effect when you see it in reality, much better than in our photos.
It is made of a whole piece of Huanghuali wood.
The Chinese term Huanghuali literally means "yellow flowering pear" wood.
It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified as Dalbergia odorifera.
In premodern times the wood was know as huali or hualu. The modifier huang (yellowish-brown) was added in the early twentieth century to describe old huali wood whose surfaces had mellowed to a yellowish tone due to long exposure to light.
The sweet fragrance of huali is very distinguished, making it different from other kinds of hardwood.
The finest huanghuali has a translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured patterns that delight the eye.
The colour can range from reddish-brown to golden-yellow.
Historical references point to Hainan Island in China as the main source of huali. However, the Vietnamese variation of huali suggests similarities in the color, figure, and density with Hainan huali. Top grade Vietnam huanghuali also has great quality and value.
The Vietnamese huanghuali used for this tray is top grade, totally handcrafted and finished with finest polishing.
There is no lacquer on the tray. The touch feeling is silk-smooth.
The craftsmanship is delicate. All details are perfectly treated.
It is a perfect tray.
