In 'Li Sao' (离骚 - literal translation: 'Encountering Sorrow' or 'Lament') by the greatest ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan, there is a line that reads: “覽察草木其猶未得兮，豈珵美（chengmei）之能當？”. This means that if a person cannot even distinguish between different plants, how could they possibly appreciate the true beauty of a precious jade? Our gallery's name, 'Chengmei,' is derived directly from this line in Li Sao. 'Chengmei' refers to the beauty of jade.
