Yulan Magnolia

Our “Quiet Time” is a red sandalwood/Zitan sculpture of Yulan Magnolia flower.

L: 15.1cm W: 10.2cm H: 2.9cm

It is a unique item, completely handcrafted by experienced artisan. The design is inspired by the the bloom of Yulan Magnolia.

Multi-dimensional Circular Carving is used by the artisan to catch the romantic charm of Yulan magnolia flowers.  

This sculpture is made of a whole piece of top quality Zitan wood, which has amazingly beautiful grains under light.

Red sandalwood has historically been valued in China, particularly during the Qing Dynasty periods, and is referred to in Chinese as 'Zitan' (紫檀) and spelt tzu-t'an by earlier western authors when they introduced classical Chinese hardwood furniture to the west.

An exquisite chair made of red sandalwood can be seen today in China's Forbidden City in Beijing, inside the Hall of Supreme Harmony, and once used by the emperors of the Qing Dynasty.

Due to its slow growth and rarity, things made of 'Zitan' is rare and expensive. It has been one of the most prized woods for millennia.

Elegant petals of Yulan Magnolia flower and small buds. 

The whole sculpture is finished with very refined hand-polishing. The feeling when you touch it, is as smooth as silk. 

Delicately carved details make the sculpture lifelike.   

You can use it as a perfect tray for your favourite jewellery.
