The material of this coral bead is so called Momo corals, which is one variety of of Pleurocorallium elatius. Momo Corals live at depths of 150 to 300 meters mainly off the coasts of Japan and Taiwan. This bead has a predominantly even and bright red colour with very few white interior. As genuine coral, it has beautiful growth rings.

Our natural material beads do not have any kinds of manual enhancement. They are strictly selected from the best part of raw materials. The cost of this criterion for selecting precious natural material is high, but we insist.

The two UFO-shape 24k gold beads are 360° fully decorated with Chinese fret pattern from ancient time. The details on these beads are impressive.

The other components are made of solid 24k gold. They are handmade in traditional method, solid and tough enough for everyday wearing.

The colour of 24k gold is different from common 18k gold and rose gold. They have a bright and intense gold colour.

The beautiful rope is made of 100% silk. The colour comes from natural dyes.

Handmade of 16 strands of silk thread in Japan. Very strong and durable.

This bracelet comes with a refined lacquer storage box. The box is a vintage item but in a nearly unused condition.

The holder of the bracelet in the box is made of Chinese painting silk, handmade in traditional method.

The storage box is handmade in Japan. The base is wood, coated with natural lacquer.

The varnish used in Japanese lacquer is made from the sap of the urushi tree, also known as the lacquer tree or the Japanese varnish tree (Rhus vernacifera), which mainly grows in Japan and China, as well as Southeast Asia. Japanese lacquer,  urushi, is made from the sap of the lacquer tree.

The harvesting of the resin can only be done in very small quantities.

Three to five years after being harvested, the resin is treated to make an extremely resistant, honey-textured lacquer. Pure urushi dries into a transparent film, while the more familiar black and red colors are created by adding minerals to the material.

Once applied one layer on an object, lacquer is dried under very precise conditions: a temperature between 25 and 30°C and a humidity level between 75 and 80%.

Each layer needs to be left to dry and polished before the next layer is added. This process can be very time-consuming and labor-intensive.

The harvesting and highly technical processing make urushi an expensive raw material applied in exceptionally fine successive layers, on objects such as bowls or boxes.

This urushi lacquer storage box is decorated with Maki-e painting on the lidThe theme of Maki-e painting is「Morning Dew on Wild Plants」. It is hand-painted by a famous artisan, very exquisite. The dew is painted with silver powder. The theme of the Maki-e painting reflects with the theme of butterfly of this bracelet.

Maki-e is a thousand-year-old technique that consists of sprinkling the lacquer with fine particles of gold and silver, inlaying mother-of-pearl (raden) or tin and spraying gold, silver, or copper flakes onto the still wet lacquer. This 1500-year-old art calls for extreme expertise and only a few urushi masters still exercise it today.

Everything of this bracelet is handmade with precious natural materials.

We hope you can enjoy the beauty of butterflies all year around. They are just resting on your wrist with this bracelet! 🦋🌺🦋
